Daqing Oilfield is a large state-owned industrial enterprise directly under the former Ministry of Petroleum Industry, located in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province.

In September 1959, the first oilfield within the Songliao Basin was discovered via exploration and officially named Daqing Oilfield. In 1960, the state launched the Daqing Oil Campaign to launch trial development operations. By the end of 1963, the trial development phase was concluded, and the oilfield entered full-scale development and construction. Three major core oilfields, Saertu, Xingshugang and Lamadian, were brought into production one after another, while a batch of new developable oilfields were identified through prospecting. The development and construction of Daqing Oilfield lifted the label of China being an oil-poor country.

As of October 2022, over the 63 years since its discovery, Daqing Oilfield, China’s largest onshore oilfield, has produced a cumulative volume of more than 2.4 billion tons of crude oil, accounting for approximately 40% of China’s total domestic onshore crude output over the same period. In recent years, Daqing Oilfield has maintained an annual oil and gas equivalent output of over 40 million tons. In 2021, its oil and gas equivalent output reached 43.226069 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase.
