Towngas China Group is the integrated business platform for Hong Kong and China Gas to conduct investment, operation and management across mainland China. Having entered the mainland market in 1994, the Group has long been deeply engaged in the gas sector. Its gas businesses now cover South China, East China, North China, Northeast China, Southwest China and other regions, spanning over 100 cities with more than 300 gas projects and serving over 40 million customers.

Based on its solid gas business foundation, the Group has further expanded its business scope by developing water and environmental services, renewable energy and value-added businesses in succession. Boasting abundant market and customer resources, it has become a key contributor to local economic growth, social progress and environmental protection initiatives.

In response to the national "Dual Carbon" goals, Towngas China Group takes the initiative to shoulder carbon emission reduction responsibilities and lead industrial transformation. In 2021, the Group introduced a new investor, Affinity Equity Partners, and officially renamed its Hong Kong listed entity from "Towngas China Company Limited" to "Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited". Centered on three core development strategies — integrated energy solutions, digitalization and decarbonization — the Group focuses on the construction and operation of zero-carbon scenarios, striving to become a leading national supplier of comprehensive clean energy.

Moving forward, the Group will continue to take gas business as its core and promote natural gas application across all sectors. Meanwhile, led by distributed photovoltaic power generation and digital operation, it will accelerate the development of renewable energy businesses. It will also continuously expand sewage treatment, kitchen waste disposal and municipal solid waste treatment services to advance toward green energy development.
